CONVENTIONS:
INITIAL NOTE TAKING:
- Number of panels: 4-6-8-10
- Why does industry use digipak (card based) instead of jewel case (plastic case)?
- Jewel is rectangular, square in front + spine, rectangle in the rear
- Digipak = no spine, simulacrum of vinyl (square and card), becomes collectible, lyric booklets
- Thinner, can fit more on shelves for retailers, lighter -> distribution cost is smaller
- Unboxing video of CD (Alt vids)
- Bonus is important, exclusive content is increasingly important (live songs, unreleased, remixes)
- Font variation, big artist name small album name
- DVD content
- Track listing + DVD details
- Spine needs attention
- Small print, current example of logos and URLs
POTENTIAL IDEAS:
- Link front and rear panels
- Pattern and abstract imagery
- Layering lyrics into artwork
